Naming Policy
Below you'll find the latest version of the Naming policy.

One of the first challenges you will face in Runes of Magic is to select the name of your character.

The name will say something about who you are, it will be a part of your entire life of adventure and it should definitely fit into the world in which your character lives.

For this reason we would like to go over some of the rules in regards to naming your characters, to make sure that all players have the best possible experience while traveling through the world of Taborea.

It is currently not possible for your character to have more then one name, first and last names are not yet planned. This name must contain between 4 and 15 characters.

Generally, only names which fit into the realm of the game world will be allowed. Therefore, names which disturb the gaming atmosphere will not be allowed.

Undesirable Names
- Names of any NPC's or historical figures within the game.
- Names of famous cultural and media personalities.
- Names which are obvious advertisements.
- Names which include brand names, trademark or otherwise protected concepts.(*)
- Names which contain abbreviations, special characters or numbers.
- Names including partial or entire sentences or statements.
- Names which do not begin with a capital letter.
- Names containing rows of letters with no meaning.
- Names containing Leet or Dudespeak in them.
- Names containing only capital letters, or alternate between capital and lower case letters. (The only exception would be in appropriate usage such as DeLuca or McGregor)
- Names which are offensive or negative, or contain the name of any disease.
- Names which glorify drugs or violence or are pornographic in nature.
- Names which are racist, sexist, obscene, vulgar or otherwise objectionable.
- Names which defame public personalities, other players or other guilds.
- Names which are political in nature, defame or personate any political persons or groups.
- Names which are religious in nature, defame or personate any religious figures or groups.
- Names which contain a title. (Titles will available in-game and are therefore not allowed to be used when creating a character)


These rules also apply to any alternative, reversed or misspelled variants of the names.

These rules also apply to the naming of guilds.

Names which are found to be in violation of the naming policy will be changed regardless of how long they have already existed. In most cases, serious or repeated violators of the naming policy can expect to be temporarily or permanently banned and/or have their characters deleted.

(*)Many brand names are protected under international law and may not be used in commercially oriented products.
